Counseling services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. JP Counseling & Associates, LLC also offers self-pay sessions for qualifying clients. Sliding-scale payments may be available and assessed on an individual basis.
We require that clients contact their insurance company to determine coverage for mental health services. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
- What is my deductible, has it been met and does it apply to behavioral health services?
- Do I have a co-pay or co-insurance and how much is it?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?

- United Health Care
- UPMC for Life
- Highmark Medicare
- Cigna Medicare
- Humana Medicare
- Aetna Medicare
We do NOT accept Medicaid and/or any Medicaid managed plans. This includes but not limited to UPMC for You, Gateway Health Plan, Community Care Behavioral Health Organization (CCBHO), or Highmark Wholecare.
If you are uncertain if your session will be covered by your insurance plan, please contact your insurance company. Clients can find the phone number for any insurance plan inquiries on the back of their insurance cards. Please note that all payments are due at time of service and any services not paid by your insurance will be your responsibility.
Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

Payments accepted by cash, check or credit/debit, or HSA/HRA card. JP Counseling & Associates, LLC requires a credit card authorization form on file for all clients regardless of co-pay or co-insurance status. All co-pays, co-insurance, session rates, late cancel fees, and no-show fees will be collected before each session or at the time of occurrence. JP Counseling & Associates, LLC will secure your credit/debit/HSA/HRA card information electronically for regular payments.
If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, or if you have not notified us at least 24 hours before your appointment of cancellation, you will be billed $40 as a No Show/Late Cancel fee which is not covered by any insurance and will be your responsibility.
Your payment is due before or at the time of service. You are responsible for providing JP Counseling & Associates, LLC with up-to-date billing information such as name, address, credit card, or insurance policy changes before your scheduled session.
